Biography
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on July 9th, 1970. Brian was enticed by cars at a very young age with the dream of being a racecar driver one-day. His first taste of racing came when he was sixteen drag racing a ‘66 Chevelle at the Tulsa International Speedway which he finished 2nd place in the High School division. At that point he knew he wanted to race, he was just waiting for the opportunity to do so. In 2000 he opened Roberts Alignments and Car Care Center and finally the opportunity was knocking. He began building a racecar and in 2000 he started his dream at Creek County Speedway in the factory stock division. Racing only seven out of thirty races, due to a late start he still managed to finish 32nd out of sixty-seven cars. At the same time racing at Tulsa Speedway where he ran thirteen races finishing an astonishing 21st in points out of seventy-eight cars. Not bad for his first season with a late start, but not good enough for Brian. He spent his off-season gaining more knowledge racing and building an Outlaw Stock. With a stroke of bad luck he began the 2002 season eight races late, but with his devotion and determination managed to still get 13th in points over all out of fifty-one cars.
As the 2003 season approached Brian started setting high goals for himself in his first full season of racing. The most important goal was to finish in the top three in points. So we are happy to add that he not only accomplished his goal but also exceeded it by finishing second in points out of fifty-two cars. He wrapped up the 2003 season by also winning a couple of awards... Most Improved Driver and Perfect Attendance.
Brian returned in the Outlaw Stock division once again for the 2004 season with the same high hopes, big goals, and determination in becoming the 2004 Outlaw Stock Champion. The year started on a high note, winning an award for the car at the Daryl Starbird’s National Rod & Custom Car Show. 2004 was a great year for Brian. Capturing three A Feature wins, several heat race wins, and a dash for cash win. Roberts Racing was the team to beat. The chase for the championship was looking great but after losing two engines in three weeks the championship soon faded out of sight. Brian ended up fourth in points out of forty cars. The year was still a great one. Brian raced at Coffeyville Speedway five times and managed to capture a couple of A Feature wins there before he decided to give asphalt a try. He took his car to JRP Speedway and ended up winning out there too. He then ventured out of the Outlaw Stock and got the opportunity to play in a sprint car at Creek County Speedway. Brian had a blast doing it all and received some recognition from his peers at the Tulsa Speedway Awards Banquet. Brian walked away with Perfect Attendance and the very prestigious Moody’s Most Popular Driver Award voted on by the fans.
The 2005 season came upon us quick but Brain along with his team were fired up and ready to go get themselves an Outlaw Stock Championship. The first night out of the gate was proof that Brian would be the driver to chase down when he ran off from the field and won the opening night A Feature. The season was turning out to be great with Brian leading the points and winning races until misfortune strikes once again. With five weeks of racing to go Brian loses the points lead. The battle to the end was a hard fought battle with Brian winning the A Feature of the season closer, but it would not quite be enough to gain his points lead back. Brian and the crew had an amazing year with Brian winning five A Features, several heat races, finishing 2nd in points out of forty-six cars, and gaining more knowledge and recognition then he had ever expected. He was once again awarded Perfect Attendance and I can promise you if there had been an award for giving the most Blood, Sweat, and Tears it would have gone straight to the Roberts Racing Team.
The 2006 season came open us fast and boy were we excited. Brian once again returned in the infamous 010 Outlaw Stock with an all new color scheme that I guarantee made some heads turn, but also tried his hand in a whole new kind of racing. He had so much fun in the past playing with the Sprint car that he decided he should add some spice to the Roberts Racing Team by getting a 010-sprint car going. He of course went into the 2006 season with great determination and high goals to win the Outlaw Stock Championship that he had touched but not yet held, but with the closing of Tulsa Speedway the Outlaw Stock became the car to play in and the Sprint Car became the full-time car to race and gain valuable seat time. Brian surprised everyone when he came out after being in the Sprint Car only 6 times and won his first A Feature victory. The Sprint Car has came to Brian very naturally and he has surprised not only long time racers and fans with his ability but also himself. Roberts Racing finished 7th in points at Creek County Speedway took home the Rookie of the Year title and the Rising Star Award. He won another A Feature with the traveling series OCRS which he finished 4th in points. Roberts racing ran three ASCS races, the first race was a National Event which Brian earned the last transferring position out of the B Feature to make the main event, he missed the A Feature on the second race by one position, and the third race we experienced our first Sprint Car flip and was taken out of the main event running. As well as Roberts Racing did running with the ASCS Series we did it all running without an injected motor and running only a 4 barrel carburetor, when the other drivers found that out the look of shock was evident. We had an amazing first season in the sprint car division!
2007 has came and went and it will without doubt be a season we will never forget... Before the season was off and running we lost our long time sponsor and friend to a battle with cancer and the season was a true dedication to her!
Roberts Racing’s focus had to be adjusted due to lack of sponsorship but we made the most of the cards we had been dealt. Brian raced six ASCS events traveling to South Coffeyville and Creek County Speedway where he ended up 28th in the Sooner Region points out of 118 cars. Brian also raced 3 out of the 7 OCRS events traveling to Caney Speedway and West Siloam Speedway where he ended up 14th in points out of 55 cars. When we weren’t running the sprint car in one of the sanctioned events we were having a blast running the Outlaw Stock at West Siloam Speedway or running the sprint car at Brill Motor Speedway in Meeker Oklahoma. Although we didn't seem to be able to get quite as many races in due to the lack of sponsorship we can say we had a blast this season gaining valuable seat time and making new friends everywhere we went!
In the upcoming 2008 season we have added yet another car to the 010 team. We will now have the 2-barrell sprint car, an ASCS sprint car, and of course the infamous 010 Outlaw Stock. We are looking forward to the upcoming season and gaining the valuable sponsorship we need to be competitive in the crazy world of motorsports. Roberts Racing will do as much traveling as possible with the ASCS and OCRS Series contingent on sponsorship. Brian as always, never changes his focus when he straps in and that is to go to the front. We look forward to a good year in 2008 and look forward to gaining more seat time and having more fun with each passing lap!
